KUALA LUMPUR, Nov 27 — Tourists who wish to explore Kampung Baru, a Malay village situated in the heart of the city, can now rent a bicycle when the Development Corporation (PKB) introduces bicycles for rent next year as an effort to promote Kampung Baru.
PKB chairman Datuk Affendi Zahari said those who wished to explore the unique features of Kampung Baru and at the same time enjoy the various types of foods on sale at the area which is known as a ‘food heaven’, especially tourists.
“We have set up six bicycle stations and each station will have 10 bicycles. With the bicycle for rent service available, tourists can explore Kampung Baru easily,” he told reporters at the Kampung Baru MTB Challenge Programme, here today.
Affendi said special lanes would be identified for cyclists to ensure their safety.
“There are paths that I myself have not passed through before but with the special lanes available, tourists or locals can view the landscape of Kampong Baru and the city from a close range,” he said.
Earlier, Finance Minister II Datuk Johari Abdul Ghani who is also the Titwangsa Member of Parliament flagged off about 1,000 participants who took part in the programme. — Bernama
