KL Tower targets 800,000 visitors in 2016

KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 22 — Kuala Lumpur Tower (KL Tower) is optimistic of attracting 800,000 local and foreign visitors this year, compared with 715,000 last year.

Its chief executive officer, Meor Shahril Anuar Ahmad Rathuan said he was confident that the number could be achieved following its latest attractions such as Sky Box and Upside Down, launched in June while various activities held were well-received by the public.

“As of last month, we have recorded a 12 per cent increase in the number of visitors, compared to the corresponding period. This latest attraction is one of the biggest factors in attracting more visitors here,” he told a press conference for the KL Tower International Jump Malaysia 2016 here today.

Meor Shahril said the four-day event, to be held from September 30, would showcase 120 international professional jumpers from Australia, France and Japan.

He said among the attractions for the 16th annual event would be a canopy jump by 20 jumpers on October 1, in conjunction with the 20th anniversary of the seventh tallest telecommunications tower in the world.

“As usual, they will jump from T07 situated 312 metres from the ground while displaying actions that will surely give a different kind of experience and adrenaline to spectators,” he said.

Visitors could also feel the excitement by watching their stunts from a closer view through ‘Sitting On The Ledge’ and the latest attraction, Sky Box, he said.

This year’s event also features photography competition themed ‘KL Tower International Jump’ together with the most interesting caption with hashtag #KLTOWERBASEJUMP.

“We want the spectators to not miss any moment but enjoy every moment and at the same time promote KL Tower to the world through the power of social media,” he said.

The event aims to attract 15,000 domestic and international visitors. — Bernama
